The South South Governors Forum has extended formal congratulations to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as he marked his 51st birthday, commending his leadership style and commitment to peace and public service in one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states.
The goodwill message was issued on Tuesday by the chairman of the forum and Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, on behalf of governors from the Niger Delta region. The forum described Fubara as a steady and people focused leader whose approach to governance has resonated across Rivers State since he assumed office.
In the statement, Diri said the forum was celebrating not just the governor’s birthday but also what it described as his growing influence in regional governance and cooperation.
He noted that Fubara’s leadership qualities had strengthened confidence among residents of Rivers State and helped foster a calmer political atmosphere during a period often marked by tension in the region.
“On behalf of the South South Governors Forum, I extend our warm birthday wishes to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on his 51st birthday,” Diri said.
“The forum celebrates the new year in your life and the new life in your years, just as we wish you greater leadership successes in the years ahead.”

The statement further described Fubara as a public servant committed to the welfare of the people and dedicated to promoting unity and stability within the state.
The South South Governors Forum serves as a platform for governors in the region to harmonise positions on shared concerns, including infrastructure, environmental protection, youth employment, and regional security. The forum also engages with the federal government on policies affecting the Niger Delta.
According to the statement, Fubara’s administration has remained engaged in these regional discussions, with emphasis on peace building and administrative coordination.

Governor Fubara took office in 2023 following his election as Rivers State governor. Before assuming the role, he served in various public finance and administrative capacities within the state, experiences that shaped his transition into executive leadership.
Since taking office, his government has focused on governance continuity and public sector stability, priorities that have drawn attention within and beyond the South South region.
As Fubara marks his 51st birthday, the South South Governors Forum said it looks forward to sustained cooperation that strengthens regional unity and supports long term stability.
