CAF Announces Stipulated Date For WAFCON 2026 Draw

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced the date for the draw ceremony of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Morocco’s capital, Rabat will host the draw on Thursday, 15 January, 2026.

16 teams will participate in the competition for the first time.

Hosts Morocco and defending champions Nigeria are among the teams that will participate in the tournament.

The other qualified teams are, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

The WAFCON 2026 finals will run from 17 March to 3 April, 2026.

Nigeria qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, thanks to a 4-0 hammering of Mozambique on Monday night.

This is the first time they are winning their first four fixtures at the tournament in history.

The Super Eagles won all their Group C fixtures and again proved their superiority over the Mambas in Fez.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring, before setting up Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s lead before the break.

Osimhen got his brace almost immediately after being set up by Lookman again.

The fourth goal came after Akor Adams lashed in a powerful effort from inside the area.

Eric Chelle’s men will now wait for the winner of Burkina Faso vs DR Congo in the quarter-finals.

Cameroon became the fourth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Indomitable Lions held on following a late fight back to beat South Africa 2-1 in Rabat on Sunday night.

Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring in the 34th minute of the match.

Two minutes after the restart, Christian Kofane doubled Cameroon’s advantage, as they seemed to be strolling to victory.
