The Chairman, House Committee on Customs, Leke Abejide, has said the forthcoming 2027 elections will be a walk-over for president Bola Tinubu.

Abejide expressed this optimism on Friday during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by The Eastern Updates.

He said Nigerians are happy enough with President Tinubu to give him another chance as President in 2027

“Poverty has reduced below more than 50%. That’s what so many people have seen that this government is actually working, and the reforms are beginning to bring results.

“Part of the results is what I just told you now that food inflation has passed and people are now happy, the workers, especially in the state and the federal now receive their salary.

“I don’t think there is any state in Nigeria now that the civil servants are being owed. ere is any and civil servant.

“So I believe with this and what to come in this new year, by the time the election comes, it will be a work over,” he said.

In other news, a political economist, Prof Pat Utomi, says anybody above the age of 70 years should not contest for either presidency or governor.

Prof Utomi made this statement on Thursday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by The Eastern Updates.

He was speaking on running for public office in Nigeria.

“I’m insisting that I will converse to the Nigerian people that nobody over the age of 70 should run for an executive position, whether it be governor or president.

“Yes, a few people can stay in the legislature till they are 75 possibly even close to 80. But the Nigerian people must not continue to tolerate the presidency being where you keep people who need medical attention.

“Doing so is at the great expense to the Nigerian taxpayer, who is not getting the quality of services they should get from these public office holders,” he said.
