The Commercial Drivers Welfare Association, Port Harcourt (CDWA), has emerged as the Best Organised Transport Union in Rivers State for 2025, while its State Chairman, Comrade Christopher Ezeali, was honored as Transport Chairman of the Year 2025 by Bedeck Global Resources, a reputable organizer of merit-based awards in the state.
The awards were presented on December 14 at a well-attended ceremony held in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State. Bedeck Global Resources, known for recognizing excellence, leadership, and organizational impact across sectors, said the honors were based on verifiable performance, structure, and service delivery within the transport sector.

According to the organizers, CDWA stood out among transport unions in the state for its strong internal organization, discipline among members, effective welfare mechanisms, and constructive engagement with stakeholders. These qualities, they noted, have helped improve orderliness and professionalism within the commercial transport system in Port Harcourt and beyond.
In the same vein, Comrade Christopher Ezeali was recognized for what the organizers described as “purpose-driven and people-centered leadership.” Since assuming office, Ezeali has been credited with strengthening unity within the association, prioritizing members’ welfare, and promoting peaceful coexistence between drivers and relevant authorities.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Ezeali expressed profound gratitude to Bedeck Global Resources for the recognition, describing the awards as both humbling and motivating. He dedicated the honors to the members of the Commercial Drivers Welfare Association, stressing that the achievements were the product of collective commitment and cooperation.
“This recognition challenges us to do more,” he said. “I am determined to redouble my efforts to sustain the standards that brought us this honor and to continue serving our members selflessly.”
He reaffirmed his resolve to place the interests of the association and its members above personal considerations, noting that leadership must be anchored on sacrifice, fairness, and accountability. Ezeali also pledged to continue working towards improved welfare, unity, and professionalism within the transport sector.
The awards have drawn commendations from transport stakeholders and community leaders, who see the recognition as a positive signal for the future of organized transport unions in Rivers State. Many believe the honors will further inspire CDWA to consolidate its achievements and raise the bar for service delivery in the sector.
