Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency in Rivers State, saying the President’s action has restored democracy and saved the state from crisis.

In a statement on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said Tinubu’s swift intervention showed his commitment to peace and democratic governance.

“The President has once again demonstrated his total commitment to peace and the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria,” Wike said.

“His proactive action saved Rivers State and restored the confidence of the people in his leadership.”

He thanked the people of Rivers for their trust in the President and their continued support for his efforts to put Nigeria back on the path of progress and development.

Wike urged political stakeholders in the state to work together in the interest of the people and warned against attempts to stir trouble.

“I call on all stakeholders in Rivers State to work harmoniously for the collective interest of the state and its people,” he said.

Wike said that, from now on, news coming out of Rivers State would focus on peace, progress, and development.

President Bola Tinubu has suspended the emergency rule in Rivers State.

In a statement released by the Presidency on Wednesday, Tinubu asked Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor, to resume work on Thursday, September 18.

The President also asked the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to resume their duties.
