EPL: Man Utd Not Great Environment For Young Players – Cole

Listen to article

Joe Cole, former Chelsea winger, has insisted that Manchester United isn’t a great environment for young footballers.

Cole said while speaking on Alejandro Garnacho’s move from Man United to Chelsea this summer.

Recall that Chelsea completed the signing of the Argentina World Cup winner on Saturday.

Garnacho was at Stamford Bridge as Enzo Maresca’s side won 2-0 against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday

Speaking to TNT Sport, Cole said of Garnacho: “He has moments where he looks sensational and looks outstanding [at Man United].

“We see Manchester United probably isn’t a great environment for a young player at the moment.

“We’ve seen players like [Scott] McTominay leave and thrive [well at Napoli].

“There’s levels to go up for Garnacho,” he stated.

In other news, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško has arrived in the UK ahead of his medical with Manchester United.

Šeško is set to sign for the Red Devils following an agreement on a fee that could rise to £74 million.

The Slovenia international received approval for the transfer on Thursday and boarded a flight across Europe.

He is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, having turned down a more lucrative offer from Premier League rivals Newcastle.

With the player now in Manchester, it is expected he will complete his medical and finalise the deal on Friday.

He will then be officially presented to fans on Saturday, when his new teammates face Fiorentina in their final pre-season fixture.

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has insisted that the club’s owners are not putting extra pressure on him to win the Club World Cup as a result of the enormous financial incentives on offer at FIFA’s new tournament.
