Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has dismissed the presidential bid of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Reacting to Amaechi’s claims that he knows President Bola Tinubu’s weakness, Wike said his presidential bid is “dead on arrival.”
Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike said Amaechi knows he cannot secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Amaechi is currently a member of the ADC, and there are rumours that he intends to run for the presidency in 2027.
However, Wike said: “He (Amaechi) knows he won’t get the ticket. I read that he said he knows the weaknesses of the president, so he knows how to defeat him, but he also knew the weaknesses of the president in 2022 when the president defeated him mercilessly in the primary.
“Nigerians know the last person they will give a ticket to because they know it (Amaechi’s bid) is dead on arrival.”
In other news, The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, on Saturday, said he might be Nigeria’s president from the Southeast when it’s God’s time.
Umahi disclosed that the Southeast will produce Nigeria’s president when it’s God’s time.
He spoke on Saturday during a courtesy visit from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and his team, who were in Ebonyi to inspect various federal projects.
The former governor of Ebonyi State said the people of the Southeast should “re-engage” politically, stressing that the presidency cannot be achieved by sentiment alone.
He said: “We have to support other regions, and at the time of God, nobody will stop it.”
Speaking jokingly, Umahi added “and who knows, you know, whether that time it will be me.”
