Former President Goodluck Jonathan has sued for unity and shared prosperity among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Jonathan made this call as he felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, stressing the significance of the occasion as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and unity.
The ex-Nigerian leader, in a statement on his Facebook handle on Friday, described the festival as a profound reminder of the enduring values of faith, devotion, sacrifice, and generosity.
He also called on citizens to rededicate themselves to building a future marked by lasting peace, progress, and shared prosperity.
“On this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and around the world.
“This significant day serves as a profound reminder of the virtues of faith, sacrifice, devotion, and generosity, which are values that resonate deeply across all humanity,” the statement read.
In other news, the Nigerian Police Force has warned that it will prosecute anybody found causing public unrest during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This was contained in a statement signed by ASP Ibrahim Sunusi Idris of the Jigawa State Police Command and issued to The Eastern Updates.
According to him, “the Command has activated a comprehensive, intelligence-led security architecture that spans all 27 Local Government Areas. This includes the strategic deployment of conventional and tactical teams to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, motor parks, markets, highways, Durbar grounds, and other critical infrastructure.”
He said the command is fully prepared to frustrate, apprehend, and prosecute anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace.
