Trump Blames New Orleans Car Attack On Illegal Immigrants

Listen to article

United States President-elect, Donald Trump, has attributed the deadly truck attack on a crowd of revelers in New Orleans on Wednesday to illegal immigration, the issue at the heart of his election victory.

The Eastern Updates reports that no fewer than 10 people were killed after a vehicle drove into a large crowd in New Orleans, a city in Louisiana, United States.

Posting on social media, Trump said criminals immigrating into the country are worst than the indigenous ones.

“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in the country… it turned out to be true,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police have not indicated the nationality or identity of the attacker.

According to the president-elect, the nation’s crime rate is at a level that nobody has ever seen.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, said that violent crime is sharply down across the country.

In other news, the US President-elect Donald Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to delay an upcoming TikTok ban while he works on a “political resolution”.

His lawyer filed a legal brief on Friday with the court that says Trump “opposes banning TikTok” and “seeks the ability to resolve the issues at hand through political means once he takes office”.

On 10 January, the court is due to hear arguments on a US law that requires TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell the social media company to an American firm or face a ban come 19 January – a day before Trump takes office.

US officials and lawmakers had accused ByteDance of being linked to the Chinese government – which the firm denies.
