Ejimakor said the intervention of the House of Representatives member from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South Federal constituency, Obi Aguocha, was instrumental in DSS lifting the restriction.
Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: “Today, on the directives of the DG DSS, the #MnkLegalTeam conducted the first successful visitation with MAZI NNAMDI KANU since Sept. 27.
“Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who came from the US was with us. Our ramrod legal forays & Hon Obi Aguocha’s intervention were crucial to this outcome.”
DSS had blocked Kanu from having access to his legal team after he caused an uproar at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he demanded the recusal of Justice Binta Nyako.
But the court had ordered the secret police to lift the restriction while threatening to jail the DSS Director General for refusal to adhere to its directive.
Amid the blockade, Aguocha had physically met with Kanu on Thursday, 24th of October 2024, at the DSS facility in Abuja.
After the meeting, the lawmaker said he had resolved the issue of restrictions placed on Kanu by DSS.
The Department of State Services, DSS had on Friday, prevented Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from his legal team.
This was disclosed by Kanu’s Lead Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor via a post on X.
Ejimakor disclosed that DSS’s latest action was in continued disobedience to a court ruling ordering Kanu access to his legal team.
He vowed to continue all suspended legal processes with much vigour following the latest action.
Ejimakor wrote: “Today, in a blatant & continuing disobedience of extant court order, the DSS barred the Legal Team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from conducting a visitation with him.
“For this reason, all suspended legal actions to enforce compliance will proceed apace and with much vigour.”
