The lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Aloy Ejimakor, has debunked all rumours of the Biafra agitator’s recent release.
Ejimakor described the rumours of Kanu’s release as fake news.
Posting on X, the lead counsel said there won’t be any need for confirmation when Kanu is released.

He wrote: “Fake News Alert: The general public is hereby advised to disregard the viral rumor that MAZI NNAMDI KANU has been released.
“It’s pure #FakeNews. The day #MNK (the #BigElephant & leader of millions) is freed, the earth itself will announce it and it won’t require any confirmation.”
Kanu has been detained since he was rearrested and subjected to extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria.
Upon return to Nigeria, courts had granted the IPOB leader bail but the Nigerian government has refused to release him.
While Kanu languished in detention at the Department of State Services, DSS, the secret police had blocked all attempts by his legal team to have access to him.
In other news, Aloy Ejimakor had also tackled the Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization over its call for a “pardon” for the Biafra agitator.
Ejimakor said Ohanaeze can’t demand for Kanu’s pardon because he is not a convicted felon by any legal standards.
Ohanaeze’s National Vice President, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, had made the call while addressing journalists in Awka on Tuesday, on Nigeria’s independence day.
Okeke-Ogene said Kanu’s release would restore peace, enable the identification of those perpetuating violence, and ultimately put an end to the disturbing sit-at-home practice in the southeast region.
