HRH Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanweh has commended Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State as the linchpin of Southern Nigeria’s unity. The applause comes after the launch of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council in Owerri, inaugurated by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

During a press conference held at his Wisdom Palace kingdom in Ihim, Eze Ohanweh, the Chairman of the Okigwe Elders Global Forum and traditional ruler of Isiama ancient kingdom in Imo State’s Isiala Mbano local government area, made a significant disclosure on Friday.

In the words of Eze Ohanweh, the distinguished traditional ruler, the inauguration program is a powerful antidote to the entrenched disunity that has hindered progress in Southern Nigeria, providing a platform for its people to come together and build a brighter future.

“This inauguration is the key needed to institute unity of purpose and progress among the Southerners and history will always remember Governor Hope Uzodimma as the pillar for the re-unification of Southern region.

“Since amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorate on January 1st 1914, by Sir Fredrick Lord Lugard to be a nation called Nigeria by her British Journalist girl friend, Miss Flora Shaw. No day has been like this, in terms of coming together of eminent leaders of the region, it’s a sign that the region and the nation is on the verge of greatness again, under unity of purpose and brotherly love and understanding”.

Eze Ohanweh nostalgically looked back at the Northern region’s traditional rulers council, acknowledging their impressive unity and collaborative spirit in advancing their regional interests, a dynamic he aspired to replicate in the Southern region.

“It’s certain that the inauguration will engineer the needed unity and understanding, expected from the populace of the region and it would snowball into improved socioeconomic and political activities.

Ohanweh further guaranteed that the inauguration would not only bridge the trust gap among regional leaders but also foster a harmonious relationship among the diverse interest groups spanning the West, South South, and South East geopolitical regions, encompassing 17 states of the federation.

According to him, “the region is made up of people of high protein and energy and there’s every reason for them to stay together so as to have the expected results of progress, growth, development and transformation and to strongly stand against marginalization.

“It’s a credit to the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that his region is united and working for unity of purpose, hence charity begins at home and we must give Tinubu’s administration all the maximum support and cooperation it needs.

Ohanweh predicted that the 17 Southern governors would henceforth be speaking in one voice, thanks to the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who had successfully brought them together in a spirit of unity and cooperation.

The venerable Royal Father offered a sage observation, highlighting the significance of traditional rulers as the embodiment of cultural wisdom and spiritual guidance. He clarified that this role is inherently tied to tradition, superseding political and religious affiliations to form the backbone of Nigeria’s societal structure and governance.
