Samuel Anyanwu, the gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, has derided the Appeal Court’s ruling in favor of Hope Uzodimma as a flimsy attempt to sidestep the legitimate concerns of the electorate.
After months of legal wrangling, the Abuja Appeal Court finally put the issue to rest on Tuesday, July 16, upholding Hope Uzodimma’s election as Imo State governor. The ruling is a significant win for Uzodimma and a relief for the people of Imo State, who can now move forward with a clear sense of direction.
Anyanwu dismissed the Appeal Court’s decision as merely a temporary setback, expressing unwavering optimism that the Supreme Court will overturn the ruling and declare him the rightful winner. He trusts that the people of Imo State will stand by him until his mandate is fully restored.

He said: “This judgment of the Appeal Court today is nothing but a tactical means to delay justice. We shall not allow them to succeed. Our legal team will take time to review and study the judgment, and thereafter, do the needful. The only assurance to our supporters across Imo state and Nigeria in general is that, we shall laugh last
“While we shall not lose hope in the Judiciary despite this judgment legalizing illegality, we are still confident that our Judiciary still possesses people of conscience and unsoiled image who will look at the mistakes of the lower courts and do justice where necessary.”
Anyanwu called for calm among PDP members in Imo State and supporters nationwide, assuring them that he’s more determined than ever to fight for his rightful mandate. He pledged to leave no stone unturned in his quest for justice.
