A joint operation by security forces under Operations Whirl Punch and Forest Sanity II has resulted in the fatal neutralization of two bandits in the Rijana area of Kaduna, a significant achievement in the quest to restore peace to the region.
The Eastern Updates reveals that this latest success comes hot on the heels of a intense battle on Sunday, where security forces on patrol in the Kachia-Kajuru area clashed with ruthless bandits, emerging victorious with five enemy fatalities.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced on Monday that security forces had successfully repelled a bandit attack in the Rijana area, killing two gunmen and inflicting serious injuries on several others, who fled the scene.
The security forces’ victory was further sweetened by the recovery of a cache of weapons and equipment, including three AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, ammunition, and two mobile phones, as well as two MP3 players, a testament to the bandits’ defeated plans.
Commissioner Aruwan reported that Governor Uba Sani has effusively praised the troops’ remarkable bravery and tenacity, also recognizing the visionary leadership of Lt. Gen. TA Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, and the unshakeable morale of the soldiers fueling the success of the ongoing operations.
He said, “According to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, the troops began their advance, clearing several locations including Amale, Gidan Jatau, Gidan Danfulani and Gidan Duna with no resistance.

“As the forces progressed to Gidan Dutse, the troops made contact with bandits and in the ensuing firefight, two of the criminals were neutralized while several escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops searched the area and recovered three AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, two AK-47 magazines, 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two mobile phones and two MP3 players.
“The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed satisfaction at the report and congratulated the troops for another sterling outing. The Governor praised the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General TA Lagbaja, and the unflinching morale of the troops, in the ongoing operations.”
