Alex Otti Pays Condolence Visit To Family Of Fallen Soldier

Abia Governor Alex Otti offered a comforting presence to the family of Corporal Lucky Ikechukwu Ikpeama, a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice after being ambushed by unknown gunmen at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa Local Government Area.

Governor Otti and the late Corporal Ikpeama had a unique connection, as they both traced their roots back to Nvosi village in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, a bond that transcended their duties as governor and soldier.

Among the five soldiers mercilessly cut down by gunmen on May 30, 2024, was Corporal Ikpeama, whose untimely demise has left a tender wife, a tiny four-month-old baby, and an aged mother to grapple with the anguish of his absence.

The Governor offered a message of hope to the bereaved family, reaffirming the state’s dedication to educating the children of the slain soldiers, a commitment that will empower them to build a brighter tomorrow.

Upon his arrival, Governor Otti was received by the deceased soldier’s uncle, who informed him that the family has designated June 13, 2024, as the day to honor their fallen hero, having secured the military’s blessing to proceed with the burial rites.

The uncle spoke of the soldier’s selfless service, highlighting the enduring impact of his sacrifice on the community.

The young widow, now alone, struggles to come to terms with her new reality, caring for their four-month-old baby without the support of her loving husband.

The aged mother is consumed by grief, grappling with the loss of her son, her rock and confidant.

But amidst their unbearable pain and uncertainty, the state government’s scholarship promise offers a beacon of hope, ensuring the children’s education and a brighter future, honoring their father’s ultimate sacrifice and legacy, and providing solace to the bereaved family in their darkest hour.
