The Nigeria Police Command has come out to deny that contrary to social media reports, Bishop Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, his wife, and son were not kidnapped in Abia.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Maureen Chinaka on Monday which was obtained by The Eastern Updates, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie said the abduction did not take place in Abia but in Anambra State.

The statement said: ”The Abia State Police Command wishes to unequivocally refute misleading online reports alleging that gunmen on Wednesday, 01/05/2024, abducted an Archbishop of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Uka Uka Osim, in Abia State.
“On Saturday 04/05/2024, some online reports had quoted one Bishop Dennis Onuoha of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, as having stated that Archbishop Osim, his wife, son, and three other priests of the religious group were kidnapped in Abia while on their way to Anambra State.
“Abia State Police Command has investigated the story, and contacted Bishop Dennis Onuoha, who denied stating that the incident occurred in Abia State. The Bishop confirmed that the kidnapping incident did not occur in Abia but rather in Awka, Anambra State, on Wednesday 1 May 2024.”
In another report, the Police Command in Anambra State have arrested no fewer than seven suspects, including five teenagers for cultism and robbery, The Eastern Updates reports.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Monday revealed that the suspects were nabbed yesterday.
Police spokesperson states that the accused individuals were apprehended by the Special Anti-Cult Squad while on patrol near UNIZIK Junction in Anambra State.
He said that at the junction, the operatives intercepted a tricycle and arrested five male occupants of the tricycle, including its rider.
