Ebonyi APC Threatens To Suspend Warring Bigwigs

Listen to article

The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has threatened to suspend warring bigwigs in Ezza North and Ezza South local government areas.

The Eastern Updates gathered that for some time now, stakeholders of the party in the two LGAs including National Assembly members, local government chairmen, commissioners and other government officials have been locked in a supremacy battle which has grown into public altercations casting the party in bad light in the process.

The party warned that it would sanction the warring stakeholders by suspending them from the party if they failed to sheath their swords.

The state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, said the party has summoned the warring chieftains to a meeting this week after which they would be suspended from the party if they continue the fight.

“We must go according to the guidelines of the party. If you are troublesome and don’t like to be with us, we will give you a suspension and you will go and wait.

“We cannot allow this party to be in crisis and jeopardise the effort we are making in the party and the effort of the governor.

“We will open our arms to receive whosoever that wants to join the party,” he stated.

In another report, Hon. Chidiebere Okoh, who vied for the 2023 House of Assembly candidacy representing Bende North Constituency in Abia State under the banner of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), alongside a robust support base comprising constituents from the five electoral wards constituting the state constituency, has officially defected to the APC.

Notably among the defectors were the ward chairpersons, as well as prominent youth and women leaders within the ranks of the ADP.

Speaking at a gathering held at the Okoko Item Civic Hall on Sunday, Okoh made it clear that his decision to align with the APC was not merely for electoral purposes but also to form a partnership with key figures like Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate.

He reiterated that both individuals had exhibited commendable leadership qualities during their relatively brief tenures in their respective positions.
