ACCIMA Makes Case For Inclusion In Abia’s Business Think-Tank

The Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture has made a strong case for inclusion into Abia State think-tank on business programmes and policy implementation for enhanced results.

Mr. Geoffrey Uzoagbara who is the President of the newly elected executive committee of the chamber, made the appeal in an audience with the chief of staff to the governor, Caleb Ajagba in Umuahia, the capital.

According to him, this kind of involvement will allow the chamber the chance to contribute meaningfully and intelligently to the state’s and the private sector’s economic development.

Accompanied by members of the committee, Uzoagbara commended the governor, Alex Otti for his bold initiatives in developing the state and thanked Ajagba for the audience.

Contributing, the vice presidents on intergovernmental relations, and oil and gas Joseph Ogwo and Ekene Enukeme harped on the need for a permanent trade fair in the state as obtained in others.

In his response, the chief of staff, charged the chamber to queue into the new economic wave of the administration to return the lost glory of Aba as the business hub of the state.

The administration’s giant strides across every sector of the economy of the state is an indication of the commitment of Governor Otti to building a new Abia of our desire,” he said.

Speaking, the commissioner for trade, commerce, and industry, Chimezie Ukegbu, and the adviser to the governor on the same, Nwaka Inem, assured the chamber of their collaborations.

In another report, the Government of Abia State has vowed to investigate the death of Emmanuel Onyeomereneche, an Abia-born Cadet Officer, who was found dead in the swimming pool of the Hotel Royal Damgrate, Umuahia last week.

Addressing the people of Okwuta–Ibeku, Umuahia North LGA who came to protest the death of the deceased who is their son, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander Macdonald Uba (Rtd.) said that investigations would be thoroughly carried out to unravel the cause of the death.
