Different groups involved in filmmaking under the auspices of South East Film Crew Welfare, yesterday took to the street protesting the manner five of their members died after a boat conveying them to the shooting location capsized in the Anambra River.
The Eastern Updates recalls that Junior Pope, Abigail Frederick, Precious Oforum, Joseph Anointing and Friday Okoroafor, all lost their lives in the unfortunate incident which happened last Wednesday.
Members of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) in Enugu State and others marched on the streets of Enugu metropolis from Okpara Square, Independence Layout, through Rangers Avenue, Bissala Road and terminated at Film Arena, National Museum.

A candle light procession was slated in honour of the fallen heroes and heroines.
Their spokesperson, Jonas Onunweze, a props and set designer, condemned the treatment given to artistes and other Nollywood crew members by film producers.
Recall that the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has begun an investigation into the fatal boat accident that occurred on the Anam River in Anambra State on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 which saw the death of 5.
A fishing canoe and a commercial speedboat were engaged in this tragedy.
The boat carrying twelve actors and crew members and a boat operator reportedly crashed into the canoe, resulting in the loss of five lives.
Among the deceased was popular Nollywood actor, Mr. Paul Odonwodo, known professionally as Junior Pope, Ms. Abigail Frederick, Mr. Precious Oforum, and Mr. Joseph Anointing.
Expressing regret over the accident, the director general of NSIB, Captain Alex Badeh Juniour, declared: “The NSIB extends its deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this heartbreaking accident. We share in your grief and are fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of this tragedy and prevent similar occurrences in the future.”
According to Badeh, an investigation team has been dispatched to the accident site, and inquiry has begun.
