The Ebonyi State sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed the abduction of two of its personnel by gunmen along the Abakaliki-Enugu federal highway.
The Eastern Updates understands that loads in some parts of Ebonyi and neighbouring states have recently become dangerous for commuters due to incessant abductions by gunmen.
The Nkalagu (Ebonyi) and Idodo (Enugu) axes of the road are the most affected, as cases of abduction keep increasing daily.
The Sector Commander of FRSC in Ebonyi, Henry Igwe, told newsmen on Tuesday in Abakaliki that both personnel were abducted on March 8. He said that both personnel concluded their duties at the corps’ Nkalagu office and were abducted as they returned to Enugu.

“Contacts were made and it was established by their families that they never got home. The families said that some people contacted them and said they were kidnappers and were demanding ransom. The negotiations are between the families and kidnappers and as an organisation, we have been doing as much as we can,” he said.
In another report, a Nigerian soldier with service number 23NA/85/10147, Private Yahaya Sani, has reportedly stabbed his colleague, Private Aliyu Musa, for allegedly accusing him of stealing in Enugu State.
The Eastern Updates gathered that Sani and the late Musa are attached to the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade, 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division of the Nigerian Army.
A source told reporters that Musa had complained on Monday night that his phone was missing, alleging that Sani was the only person with him before the loss.
The source added that Musa stabbed Sani with a dagger on his head during an argument about the phone.
The incident came a few days after another soldier attached to the 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division, Private Mohammed Adamu, with service number 21NA/80/0365, killed a pregnant woman, Miss Hauwakulu Tabra.
