Imo Police Arrest Robbery Suspect, Recover Ammunition

The Police Command in Imo State has confirmed the arrest of a notorious armed robbery suspect, Izea John Chukwuebuka, 23, of Asa Community Ohaji, while he was on his way to Alaba International Market, Owerri.

Police spokesman Henry Okoye, in a statement on Friday, disclosed that one locally made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect.

The statement reads: “The suspect who was arrested in a well-coordinated operation with the local vigilantes on April 9, 2024, confessed to having robbed unsuspecting members of the public at Alaba International Market, Douglas Market, Tetlow, and other business areas in the state.

“He admitted that he has a syndicate in Ama Hausa Market, that receives stolen items from him in exchange for monetary gains.

“Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend his syndicates at large, particularly the receivers of stolen items, sellers, and manufacturers of locally made guns.

“The suspect will be transferred to the state headquarters for consolidation of the ongoing investigation and will certainly face prosecution upon completion of a thorough investigation.”

In another report, the Police Command in Ebonyi State on Thursday paraded a fake female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), member arrested for stealing several children in the state.

The Eastern Updates reports that the fake NYSC member, who is about 40 years old, identified as Ngozi Blessing Abia (alias Mercy Francis), had abducted two primary school children at Nwezenyi junction, Ndiokpoto village in Igbeagu community, Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.

After her arrest, the police conducted more investigations, which found that she was connected to multiple instances of child theft.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP John Ukandu, who confirmed the arrest, stated that the suspect was apprehended at Oba, in Anambra State where the children were rescued.
