“How Ebonyi Fertilizer Plant Generated ₦200m In 6 Months”

Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru has Revitalised the Ebonyi State Fertiliser Chemical Company which has led to the plant generating N200m in six months.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Princess Nkechi Iyioku who made this on Monday in Abakaliki while speaking to Journalists.

She said that Governor Nwifuru on assumption of office initiated simple policies through her office which led to the turnaround of the fortunes of the plant.

“These include the shutting down of all the known financial leakages by the introduction of non-payment of any amount of money by cash but direct payment into the company’s account.

“Introduction e-records in both the account section, marketing section and in the factory, thereby enabling periodic stocktaking and audit of the company’s account.

“The Governor also strengthened the task force on fertilizer adulteration by increasing their stipend and as well, mobilized them for ease of movement to clamp down on fertilizer adulteration.

“Consequently, workers are punctual and traces of indolence and truancy are not entertained,” she said

In the area of security, Princess Iyioku noted that security was reinforced with the installing of solar light and CCTV cameras in all the strategic locations of the factory.

She said the Governor also ensured that customers had no reasons whatsoever not to patronize the company, by applying good marketing strategies and introducing incentives to customers.

“Consequently, the company ensured that products were readily available to meet the needs of customers. A good quantity of fertilizers was produced in the peak of dry season in 2023, in readiness for business this year which will kick start any moment from now”

The Commissioner also explained that the Ministry ensured that no section of the factory was dysfunctional by repairing and bringing  to life, the bad section of the factory which would have broken down if urgent attention was not accorded.

“Every section of the factory was kept clean and in order. The primary objective of the company is to ensure availability of fertilizers to the farmers on time and at affordable cost. This is in tandem with The People’s Charter of Needs mantra of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru with regards to development of Agriculture”, she said.

Also speaking on the issue, Governor Nwifuru’s Special Assistant on New Media, Leo Oketa hailed the Commissioner for the achievement.

He revealed that the Ministry is also rebuilding and remodeling the State’s Hatchery in content and structure.
