You Will Get Monarch Of Your Choice, Soludo Assures Community

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has assured the people of Azia community which has been lately been ravaged by insecurity, that they will get traditional ruler of their choice.

He made this promise over the weekend when the leaders of the community stormed the government in a peaceful protest over the traditional stool.

The Eastern Updates reports that Azia, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, is one of the six communities held hostage by the gunmen in a long time.

The traditional ruler elected in the community, Prof Titus Eze, died before his swearing-in in and since then, the community ha , been without a monarch.

Already, 12 persons have indicated interest in succeeding the late monarch elect.

However, the leaders of the community, led by Odu, Chike Muoghalu, and Ichie Benneth Abaniwu, said the community was ready for election with the help of the state government.

In another report, no fewer than three teenage girls from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State allegedly trafficked to Ghana, have been rescued, The Eastern Updates has gathered.

The teenage girls, whose names were given as Ogah Chinecherem from Ohatekwe Amagu, Odor Favour from Abina Amagu and Osinachi Nweke Umanyi from Ndioduma Omege Echara, both from the area, were rescued by the Chairman of the Lagos branch of Ikwo Development Union, Mr Meba Igwe.

They were allegedly trafficked by a woman from the same local government, Mrs Abigail Nweke, and were handed over to a Cross River woman whose name could not be immediately ascertained for movement to Ghana.

The Eastern Updates gathered that the teenagers reportedly left their different homes in January this year.

They were first taken to Lagos, where they were being moved to Ghana, but were intercepted by immigration officers on the border patrol.
