Confirming the incident when contacted, the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said police operatives have been deployed in the area.

“The body of deceased has been recovered and deposited at the morgue with the help of some of the family members. We are also working with some eyewitnesses and community members to help track the perpetrators and investigation is ongoing.”

In another report, a former Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe has asserted that the failure of security agencies to stamp out kidnapping and banditry exposes collusion between criminals and security agents.

The lawmaker, who has been representing Abia South Senatorial District since 2007 in the National Assembly, spoke on Inside Sources with Laolu Akande aired on Channels Television which was monitored by The Eastern Updates.

He decried that despite the many technological tools available at the disposal of security agencies, oil theft, kidnapping and insurgency still continue at alarming scale.
