The Federal government of Nigeria has announced the completion of the palliative rehabilitation of a section of Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway (Idodo).
The minister of works Engr David Umahi visited the site on yesterday after the two-day joint inspection visit to the 3rd Mainland Bridge, the Carter Bridge and the Eko Bridge as well as the progress of work at a section of Lagos- Ibadan Expressway at the axis of Ibadan all in the South West.
A statement by the special adviser media, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, said the minister immediately moved to inspect the rehabilitation work going on at the collapsed New Artisan Bridge near NNPC mega fillings station, Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu State.

He ordered contractors handling the project to step up pace of work to ensure that the project is delivered on a record time.
He also visited the palliative work at Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway (Idodo) which has been fully repaired.
The minister thereafter departed to Abakaliki from where he would be exercising his voting right during the Ebonyi South Senatorial bye-election, holding on Saturday, 3rd February, 2024.
In another report, the kidnappers who abducted a former deputy vice-chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Prof. Godwin Emezue have reportedly demanded ₦55m ransom from his family to effect his release.
The Eastern Updates gathered that the gunmen made the demand when they established communications channels with the family.
The gunmen, according to reports have sternly warned the family against involving police, if they want their relative alive.
The university Don was said to be in the company of his wife when the hoodlums that had been trailing them blocked them and whisked him away.
It was gathered that they were double-crossed after coming out from a fueling station located at the Umuekwu, Amachara in Umuahia South local government area of the state before the gunmen swooped on them.
