Police operatives in Anambra State have busted a four-man burglary gang in Ogidi, who are notorious for targeting commercial shops and terrorise people across the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed that the suspects were arrested after a tip off, while items recovered from them include, three bags of rice, two large iron cutters among others.
A statement by Ikenga yesterday, said all the suspects hail from Ebonyi State and have made useful statements to the police.
He said: ‘Acting on a tip-off received on August 30, the police stormed the hideout of the gang and cordoned it off to prevent escape of any of the members .
‘Four suspects, all of them from Ebonyi State were arrested while two ladies’ motorcycles and two big generators were recovered from them’.

“Other items recovered were, one wheelbarrow, one deep freezer, three bags of rice and two large iron cutters.
“On interrogation suspects confessed to have broken into a store at Nanka in Orumba North Local Council of Anambra State to steal the recovered items.”
Meanwhile, The Eastern Updates reports that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Aderemi Adeoye, has commended the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ogidi, Uche Onyinaya, for hitting the ground running, having earlier arrested and recovered a Beretta pistol from a cultist.
Adeoye encouraged the personnel not to relent in their pursuit of criminal elements.
The CP also directed that investigation be extended to Nanka to locate the owner of the store and Motor Licensing Office for records of owners of the motorcycles with a view to returning the recovered items to the rightful owners on bond, while suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
