Enugu Govt Moves To Digitise Cultural Heritage, Tourist Sites

Listen to article

The Government of Enugu State has announced plans to commence the digitilisation of the state’s cultural heritage and tourist sites to become more discoverable, ensuring access to local and international tourism.

Chairman of the state Tourism Board, Dame Rita Mbah, has pointed out that the main objective of the government is to focus on destination marketing to reposition Enugu tourism by creating a positive destination identity for the state.

Mbah, therefore, invited investors to partner the governor to develop tourist sites and resources, stressing that the board is poised to work with stakeholders across the value chain to achieve the goal.

‘We are certain that we cannot do it alone. As we begin this important work, we will be reaching out to sector leaders in the creative, cultural and hospitality industries. We will reach out to community leaders, traditional rulers, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), hotels, as well as the retail and finance industries for robust collaboration. My intention is to drive collaboration with all agencies at the heart of our overarching strategy,’ Mbah stated.

Also, Mbah has assured the local and international investment community of abundant investment opportunities in the state, stressing that the state was making fast progress in de-risking investment and making its ease-of-doing business more attractive.

Highlighting the state’s investment opportunities in agriculture and agro-industry, logistics and aviation, tourism, real estate, mineral resources, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), among others, the governor said his administration will ensure a paradigm shift from “the traditional model of relying on allocations from the federation account,” as the state’s future and new growth plan rested on leveraging its extensive human and material resources.

He made these known, yesterday, at the ongoing 2023 Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) International Conference and Expo, which also had in attendance an array of members of the international community and investors.
