Abducted 16-Year-Old Girl Rescued By Police In Imo

Police operatives in Imo State have confirmed the rescue of a 16-year-old girl named, Khadizat Labran, from Kogi State who was abducted weeks ago.

In a statement on Wednesday which was obtained by The Eastern Updates, the spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, Henry Okoye, pointed out Labran was kidnapped and blindfolded by some gunmen at Ganaja Junction in Lokoja, and was subsequently taken into a vehicle.

He added that the teenager found herself in a bush before she escaped, and a good samaritan found her wandering on the road in Nkwerre, Imo State.

The Imo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the rescue of a young girl, named Khadizat Labran, 16, dark in complexion. She has no tribal marks and speaks Pidgin English fluently.

‘She was rescued by a good samaritan on July 25, who saw her wandering about along the road within Nkwerre, and subsequently took her to Nkwerre Police Station.

‘She claims to hail from Lokoja in Kogi State, and also stated that she was abducted by unknown men at Ganaja Junction in Lokoja, who blindfolded her and took her to a bush before she eventually escaped,’ Okoye said.

He advised members of the public, who could locate her home to use the phone number the Command provided.

‘Members of the public, who know the young girl or her parents are by this statement encouraged to call the Police Public Relations Department, Owerri, on 08148024755, and assist in reuniting the girl to her parents,’ he added.
