The just-inaugurated Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has appealed to the gubernatorial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Benard Odoh, to withdraw all litigations against him in the interest and unity of the state.

Nwifuru was sworn in alongside his deputy governor, Princess Patricia Obila, by the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Elvis Ngene, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, on Monday, May 29, 2023.

He urged the opponents and others who had dragged him to court to drop their ligations and support his administration, with the purpose of uniting and developing the state.

His words: ‘I call on my opponents who contested with me in the 2023 general election to join us in this great journey to savour the benefits available for them in this state.’

“They should make themselves available and offer their beautiful ideas for the development of our state. I publicly plead with them to withdraw their petitions against me. As that will make us more unified and solidified.

“At the same time, this will make the Ebonyi people and the leadership of our great party (APC) more focused on discharging our enormous responsibilities. I assure you all, my political opponents, of a harmonious partnership, irrespective of our party differences.

“Together, we shall build the Ebonyi State of our dreams, because everything on this earth happens the way God wants it. We are of God, as we earlier stated in our inaugural address.

“Our government shall be fair and just for all. Everything in life happens so that the glory of God will be made manifest. We shall remain firm, focused, loving, and God-fearing.”
