Hon. Modestus Osakwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the Isu State constituency rerun election held on Saturday in Imo State.

The Public Relations Officer of INEC for Imo State, Dr. Chinenye, confirmed this to The Eastern Updates on Monday.

Already, the state chapter of the PDP has described the victory as the triumph of popular will, saying ‘the future is now very bright in Isu with a focused, humane, intelligent, passionate and God-fearing representative like Hon. Osakwe.

However, the party alleged that seven of its members were attacked and brutally injured while some were hospitalized during the Isu State constituency supplementary election.

‘The Isu experience has made it imperative for Imo people to unite and uproot this cancerous APC from our State,’ the PDP Publicity Secretary, Collins Opurozor, said.

Further, Opurozor said the party assured Imo people that ‘all the mandates which the wobbling APC stole across the State will certainly be recovered very soon through the instrumentality of the judiciary. This is exactly what will happen.’

Similarly, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has won the rerun election for Ezza North/Ishielu federal constituency in Ebonyi, The Eastern Updates reports.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), yesterday declared Joseph Nwobashi the winner.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Augustine Ibegbu of Alex Ekwueme University, announced Nwobashi won with 11,890 votes.

He defeated Emmanuel Nwite of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who got 11,150 votes; Chinedu Oguta of Labour Party, LP, polled 8,076 votes.

Nwobashi is the former majority leader in Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
