Listen to article

Mr. Valentine Obienyem who is a media aide to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has pointed out that the leaked audio of his principal’s conversation with the founder of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, was doctored out of context.

Obienyem also described that a man who is ‘our Nnewi prodigal brother’ is responsible for the leak.

In the audio clip, Obi seemed to be urging Oyedepo to encourage Christians to vote for him.

‘Daddy, I need you to speak to your people in the South-West and Kwara, the Christians in the South-West and Kwara. This is a religious war,’ Obi apparently said in the trending audio.

But in a post on Facebook this Sunday which was sighted by The Eastern Updates, Obienyem said: ‘The badly doctored conversation with Bishop Oyedepo released by our Nnewi prodigal brother is the much they have discovered so far.

Meanwhile, almost seven weeks after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Senator that represented Enugu East in the 9th assembly, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has taken a swipe at the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, alleging that he introduced religious and ethnic politics in Nigeria.

In a statement on Sunday which was sent to The Eastern Updates the former Enugu State Governor said that reviewing the activities of the just concluded elections,  he concluded that ‘Peter Obi deflowered the virgin innocence of political patriotism and nationalism in Nigeria.
