4 Kidnapped Victims Rescued By Police In Enugu

The Police Command io on Sunday rescued 4 kidnapped victims kidnapped along Eke/Akama road in the state.

The police spokesman of the state command, Daniel Ndukwe said the victims were kidnapped on the 23rd of December 2022.

He said ‘Operatives serving in Iwollo Division of the Enugu State Command, in synergy with Neighborhood Watch personnel and Forest Guards have rescued 3 males and 1 female victim, reported to have been kidnapped along 9th-Mile/Eke/Akama-Oghe Road, on 23/12/2022 at about 8 pm.

‘They also recovered a black-coloured Mercedes Benz car belonging to one of the victims, while all the victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families.’

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, has ordered Tactical Operatives of the Command to sustain an ongoing manhunt for the kidnapping suspects, who abandoned the victims and escaped due to the intense pressure mounted by the Operatives to rescue the victims and apprehend them.

Meanwhile, in pursuance of the State Police Command’s 2022 Yuletide Security and Safety Plan, Police Operatives serving in Awkunanaw Division with assistance from the Neighbourhood Watch Group arrested a 21-year-old suspect and recover the firearm.

Ndukwe said the suspected was arrested on 24/12/2022 at about 9.30 pm saying “one Sunday Chukwu (male) aged 21 was arrested with unlawful possession, one (1) locally-fabricated pistol with one (1) live cartridge, which he and cohorts at large are suspected to be perfecting plans to use and perpetrate their criminal intentions this festive season.

He said the case is undergoing further discreet investigation, while operational, investigation and intelligence-gathering activities geared towards actualizing maximum security and safety in the State, have been intensified.
