Following the warning of a possible terror attack in the nations’s capital, Abuja, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has appealed to the United Kingdom where its leader, Nnamdi Kanu resided before his rendition, to evacuate him from Nigeria alongside with its citizens.

The group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful also sent warnings to the Federal Government that no harm must befall its leader.

Powerful said: ‘IPOB states unequivocally that the Nigerian Government and Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami Malami must adhere to and implement the ruling of the Court of Appeal which declared the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu a free man discharged and acquitted of all spurious allegations and charges.

‘IPOB hereby declares that nothing untoward should happen to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu either in the DSS custody or shortly after his release. IPOB is monitoring the security situation in Abuja conscientiously and will unleash our own venomous action on them if they fail to release our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

‘IPOB advises British High Commissioner to ensure that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a British citizen, is evacuated along with the other British citizens in Nigeria. Britain should know that their citizen, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been released by a court of competent jurisdiction but is still being illegally detained.’

Meanwhile, IPOB have also raised an alarm over the arrest and detention of no fewer than 24 persons over their alleged relationship with Nnamdi Kanu and the secessionist group.

In a statement late Thursday by its Media and Publicity Secretary who deploys the pseudonym, Emma Powerful, obtained by The Eastern Updates, IPOB said the 24 persons on his list were picked up across various states of the south-east and had been in detention since 2021.

The group claimed that they have not been seen, nor have they been charged before any court in the country.
