Kanu’s Family Reacts To UN Indictment Against Nigeria, Kenya

Some of the family members of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have openly come out to thank the United Nations, UN, for openly indicting Nigeria and Kenya in the arrest and detention of the secessionist while pleading for more sanctions to be slammed to facilitate the release of their son and brother.

According to some recent reports, the United Nations and the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention had indicted both the Nigerian and Kenyan governments for the arrest and extraordinary rendition, torture and continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu without due process.

The UN had also demanded that the Nigerian Government immediately release the secessionist unconditionally and pay him adequate compensation for violating his human rights.

Reacting, Kanunta Kanu, younger brother of the IPOB leader, in a tweet on his Twitter handle hailed the decision, thanked everyone working towards the release of Kanu, who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

The tweet reads, “The Kanu family thanks the UN for condemning the extraordinary rendition of #MaziNnamdiKanu & directing Nigeria to release & compensate him.

“We also thank @BruceFeinEsq & Prof Rachel Murray for initiating & leading this effort & Barr @AloyEjimakor for working closely with them”.

In another report, While reacting to the painful death of a couple of youths who were gunned down by the commissioned Southeastern security network, the Ebubeagu, the younger brother to Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Kingsley Kanunta Kanu has blasted Governor Hope Uzodinma for the killing of seven youths in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State by operatives of Ebubeagu security outfit.

However, Kanu condemned the killing of the youths.

In a tweet, Kanu accused Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi States of “competing in killing Igbo youths.”

“The massacre of 14 innocent #Biafran youths in Awo Omamma by Gov Uzodinma’s Ebubeagu militia in Imo state today is unacceptable and must be condemned.
