How Bombs Planted By ESN Wounded 2 In Imo – Nigerian Army

The Nigeria Army, on Wednesday, said An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) has exploded, causing severe injuries to two members of the outlawed group.

Onyema Nwachukwu, Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations, in a statement, said the incident occurred along Eke Ututu-Orsu road in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to the statement, the dissidents, inadvertently stepped on the IED which they had earlier planted along several routes in Orlu, Orsu Local Government Area, while they were attempting to evade troops’ onslaught against terrorists in the area.

He said the outlawed group have severally planted IEDs along troops’ patrol routes in a failed effort to bring harm to the troops.

It urged all peace-loving people of the South-East to please inform troops of possible areas where the explosives have been buried for proper evacuation and disposal.

Meanwhile, as part of their efforts to celebrate and honour the Biafra Remembrance Day, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB have openly rejected the terrorism tag by the Nigerian Government.

Emma Powerful, the spokesman of IPOB, accused the Nigeria Police Force and Nigerian Army of deliberately attempting to assassinate the character of its members.

Powerful said immigrations and police officers across the world could attest to the fact that members of the separatist group are not terrorists and criminals.

He stated this in his statement to mark May 30, a day set aside for Biafra Remembrance Day.
