A midnight fire razed seven shops in Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday.
The fire, which was not unconnected to power surge, happened about 1:20am, and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Police spokesperson Haruna Mohammed said no life was lost.
He said: ‘On December 6, there was a report of fire outbreak at Ufuma junction in Orumba North. The fire, which started about 1:20am, burnt seven shops and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.’
‘Policemen attached to the Ajali Division visited the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent hoodlums from looting, while the fire was put off by local volunteers.’
‘No life was lost and the value of property destroyed is yet to be determined. The case is being investigated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.’
