2023 Presidency: Igbos Will Not Get APC, PDP Ticket – Kanu

Listen to article

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has stated that no Igbo man will fly the flag of either PDP or APC in the 2023 presidential election. This is coming as he also stated that Umahi never supported Peter Obi’s choice as Atiku Abubarkar’s VP because he is interested in running for the President in 2023.

He wrote: ‘the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi never supported or accepted Peter Obi as Vice President to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2019, ‘because that would have truncated his own chances in 2023.’ Kanu alleged that Umahi rather chose to work for APC presidency, ‘against his own brother, not minding that both of them are in the same PDP.’

Umahi, who doubles as the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, recently decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, citing refusal of PDP to categorically make a statement on where to Zone the 2023 presidency.

Kanu speaking further said: ‘No Igbo man will get the nod to fly the flag of either of the main political party come 2023.’

According to him, Umahi, Governor Nyesom Wike and others are merely storing up trouble for themselves and their children by allegedly conniving with the army and police in the killing of their people.

Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari in statement through the presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu on Wednesday commended the defection of Governor Umahi to the APC, described it ‘as a bold move driven purely by principle rather than opportunistic motives’. I am proud of Governor David Umahi for taking this bold decision in accordance with his conscience and principles rather than external influence or coercion,” the aide quoted Buhari.
