2023: Bauchi Igbo Community Mobilises For Presidency

The Igbo Community in Bauchi State has said that it will do everything possible to mobilise support for the emergence of a person of Igbo extraction as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

This was stated by the newly-elected President-General, Igbo Community in Bauchi State, Sir Chidi Chukwunta, shortly after he took the oath of office.

Sir Chukwunta submitted that Nigeria is centered on a tripod of tribes, adding that since other tribes had previously been elected presidents, it was the turn of the Igbo to produce the next president in 2023.

He said that he would do everything possible to get Igbo united to takeover power in the next general elections.

According to him, “Considering the fact that other tribes have been on that throne, as the President of the Igbo here in Bauchi State, I will support every move to ensure that an Igboman becomes a president in 2023.”

Sir Chukwunta, however, called for unity among his kinsmen to foster development.

Meanwhile, Chukwunta applauded Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for ensuring the safety of Igbo in the State, declaring that peace is reigning in the state under the governor’s watch.


According to him, “Crisis has become a thing of the past in Bauchi but I know that there is insecurity in Borno and Kaduna and other part of the North. But we are enjoying peace in Bauchi,” he said.

Chukwunta, therefore, called on the Igbo residents in Bauchi State to be law-abiding citizens, assuring that their welfare was his priority

The Igbo Community in Bauchi State comprise of people of Igbo extraction from six states of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra and part of Delta.
