The United States State Department warned Americans on Monday not to travel to Israel, warning that terrorist groups were plotting possible attacks and could target tourist locations “with little or no warning.”
“The security situation in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, is unpredictable… as security incidents, including mortar and rocket fire and armed UAV intrusions and missiles, can take place without warning,” the department also said in an advisory that escalated its advice of “reconsider travel” from last week.
Turkish President Erdogan says Israel attacked Iran with “comprehensive and insidious purposes”.

His comments come after a phone call with President Putin, during which both leaders condemned what they described as an Israeli “act of force” and called for an immediate end to hostilities.
“Both sides expressed the most serious concern about the ongoing escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict, which has already led to a large number of casualties and is fraught with serious long-term consequences for the entire region,” the Kremlin said in a statement following the call.
Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos says Cyprus has received requests to assist in the evacuation of citizens of Portugal and Slovakia from the Middle East.
“There are two active requests,” Kombos told reporters. “Obviously, this very much depends on the access of their civilians to neighbouring countries by road.”
Last week, Cyprus activated a mechanism to assist in the evacuation of third-country nationals from the Middle East if required amid the conflict between Iran and Israel.
Its airport operator Hermes said dozens of flights from the region had been diverted to airports in Larnaca and Paphos after most airlines halted flights to and from Israel.
