The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied recent political statements credited to him.

Kwankwaso, speaking on his verified X page on Saturday, said, “My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments in Nigeria. That statements are certainly not from me.

“I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief.”

Kwankwaso added that he took a break from commenting on political issues in the country.

“I have refrained from commenting on contemporary political events and I will continue to do so for the time being.

“In this regard, I urge the public to only engage statements that come from my public handles and other official sources,” he said.

Recently, there were reports that Kwankwaso said he is going into alignment with some political actors to rescue Nigeria from the shackles of misgovernance and poverty.

The reports led to rumors that Kwankwaso might join the coalition spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, which is aimed at defeating President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

In other news, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that there will be no political party in Akwa Ibom State come the 2027 general election.

The Senate President claimed that all political parties have collapsed to vote for him for the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District.

Akpabio, who stated this on Friday during his midterm empowerment briefing held at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) umbrella has been torn into shreds and can no longer protect the people.
