Pay Your Electricity Bills Or Face Disconnection – Enugu Disco

Listen to article

An electricity distribution company, Mainpower, has issued a disconnection notice to its customers in the Abakpa, Awkunanaw, Nsukka, and Ogui districts of Enugu State.

The company disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

The disco urged customers to pay up their outstanding electricity bills to avoid disconnection.

“Customers are to pay their bills before the disconnection team gets to their premises and not wait for marketers to visit before they pay to avoid payment of a reconnection fee.

“The current energy bill, which is for energy consumed in the previous month, is expected to be paid by the 15th day of the succeeding month.

“Customers with arrears are encouraged to clear their bills or take advantage of the discount scheme known as the “Accelerated Settlement of Arrears Project (ASAP).”

“Payments can be made at the Mainpower Electricity Cash Offices or at the collection agent locations,” the notice stated.

In other news, Lagos State Government has disclosed that residents collectively spend over N13 trillion monthly on electricity consumption, an amount described as unsustainable amid the persistent challenge of unreliable power supply.

This was revealed by the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, during a press briefing held Thursday at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, ahead of the inaugural Lagos Energy Summit scheduled for April 15–18, 2025.

Ogunleye described the staggering monthly energy expenditure by both residents and the government as a clear indicator of the urgent need for alternative, reliable power sources.
