VDM Finally Regains His Freedom After Protests

Popular social media activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, VDM, has regained his freedom from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Eastern Updates reports that VDM has been in the custody of the anti-graft agency since he was arrested in Abuja on Friday.

There has been uproar across the nation with Nigeria youths demanding his immediate and unconditional release.

EFCC said on Tuesday that the arrest followed a series of petitions against the activist, claiming that several invitations were communicated to him but he failed to honour them.

In an update on his official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, an activist cum politician, Omoyele Sowore, said “VDM Released”!

In other news, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed that popular social media activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be released once he meets his bail conditions.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, while speaking to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, stated, “We will release him if he meets his bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible.”

According to him, VDM’s arrest followed multiple petitions submitted by various individuals, alleging misconduct.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” he said.

Mr Oyewale said, “We arrested him (VDM) to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners. We will release him once he meets the bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible. We are law-abiding.”
