Governor Bago issued the directive during a security meeting held in Minna on Tuesday.

He stated that the measure was part of efforts to curb the resurgence of insecurity in the state capital.

“Anyone found in possession of any weapon, including knives and sticks, should be treated as an armed robber, and if killed, the parents must pay for the bullet before releasing the corpse. Anyone keeping dreadlock hair should be arrested and shaved,” he stated.

This pronouncement coincided with the governor’s imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew across Minna on Tuesday.

Governor Bago further pledged to deploy the full force of his administration against those responsible for perpetuating insecurity in the state.

The Eastern Updates reports that there has been a surge in attacks and killings in Benue and Plateau States over the past fortnight.

In other news, as Nigeria grapples with escalating violence in several regions, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi issued a stark warning on Monday, March 24, 2025, urging citizens to resist calls for self-defense and cautioning that such actions risk spiraling the nation into chaos.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Namadi directly addressed remarks by retired General Theophilus Danjuma, who recently encouraged Nigerians—particularly in the hard-hit states of Benue and Plateau—to take up arms against bandits and gunmen wreaking havoc.

Danjuma, a former defense minister, had argued that depending on government forces for safety is no longer viable, pointing to the relentless wave of bloodshed and attacks sweeping through communities as evidence of a broken security system.
