Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has appointed the Emir of Kauru, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ya’u Shehu Usman, as the Amirul Hajj and leader of the government delegation for the 2025 Hajj exercise.
In a statement, Ibraheem Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, said the appointment of the traditional ruler was based on his track record of selfless service, integrity, and effective human management.
The statement further noted that the Amirul Hajj is expected to work closely with the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee and other agencies at state, federal, and international levels to ensure a hitch-free 2025 pilgrimage.
Governor Uba Sani, while congratulating the Amirul Hajj on his well-deserved appointment, urged him to bring his wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in his new role. He also prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection for him.
Kano State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi has cleared air that the ruling of the Court of Appeal, Abuja division, on the State Emirship tangle did not in anyway invalidate the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th emir of Kano.
Dederi declared that, “having passed a landmark verdict on January 10, 2025, that reaffirmed the power of the Kano State government to reappoint Sanusi, it is impossible for the Court of Appeal to set aside or quash it’s own decision on the same matter.”
The Attorney General made the position known to journalists while reacting to Friday ruling of the Appellate Court on the application for stay of execution filed by Alh. Aminu Baba Dan Agundi, one of the kingmakers loyal to the 15th Emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero, pending determination of the appeal at the apex court.
