In response to a directive from the National Hajj Commission, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has extended the deadline for Hajj seat payments via bank draft.

The board’s Director General, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, announced the extension on Tuesday during an orientation workshop for staff and local government center officers at Grand Central Hotel.

According to Alhaji Danbappa, the payment window will remain open for intending pilgrims until the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He also disclosed that, as of today, the board has remitted over 22 billion naira to the National Hajj Commission on behalf of Kano State pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Yusif Lawan, encouraged staff and Local Government Hajj Center Officers to intensify their efforts in carrying out their duties.

The Director General further commended the Kano State Government for its prompt response in addressing the board’s needs whenever required.

Speakers at the orientation program included Sheikh Muhammad Sani Ashir, Malam Nasiru Maccido, Pharmacist Abdulrashid Habib Ibrahim, and the board’s Director of Planning.

In other news, on Tuesday, the House of Representatives conducted a public hearing to discuss a proposed legislation aimed at creating the Nigerian Security and Intelligence Trust Fund, designed to offer a supplementary financial resource for security entities, notably the armed forces.

The legislation, put forward by Ahmed Satomi, who represents Jere Federal Constituency in Borno State, seeks to bolster Nigeria’s security and intelligence framework, enabling these bodies to more efficiently carry out their constitutional duty of safeguarding lives and property.

The session took place at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja and was officially inaugurated by the Speaker, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, in the presence of fellow federal legislators.

Addressing participants, Speaker Abbas described security as a major challenge in the country.
