Police have confirmed the death of Isak Andic, the billionaire entrepreneur and founder of the renowned fashion chain Mango, in a mountain accident earlier today, December 14. The news has sent shockwaves through the global fashion community, where Andic was celebrated not only for his business acumen but also for his vision in revolutionizing retail fashion.

Isak Andic, 71, tragically lost his life after slipping and falling from a 150-meter cliff while hiking with relatives in the Monserrat caves near Barcelona, according to a police spokesperson. The incident occurred during what was meant to be a peaceful outing, but ended in a devastating accident that has left his family and the business world in shock.

At about 12:30 pm local time, the family of Isak Andic alerted emergency services, as reported by El Pais. A helicopter and ambulance were promptly dispatched, but by the time they arrived, the authorities confirmed that Andic had already passed away from his fall.

Considered the richest man in Catalonia, Andic’s wealth also placed him among Spain’s most affluent individuals, with Forbes putting his net worth at a staggering $4.5 billion (£3.6 billion). His financial success was a testament to his entrepreneurial vision and leadership in the fashion industry.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his condolences to Mr Andic’s family in a post on X and praised the businessman saying: “All my love and recognition for his great work and business vision, which has turned this Spanish firm into a world leader in fashion.”

Mango’s CEO Toni Ruiz said in a statement Mr Andic’s death was “unexpected”.

He has dedicated his life to the Mango project, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, his inspiring leadership and his unwavering commitment to values that he himself has instilled in our company.”

The statement on Mango’s website goes on to say: “His departure leaves a huge void but all of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements.

“It is up to us, and this is the best tribute we can make to Isak and which we will fulfil, to ensure that Mango continues to be the project that Isak aspired to and of which he would feel proud.”
