PDP ‘Suspends’ South-East National Vice Chairman Ali Odefa

Chief Ali Odefa who is the zonal national vice chairman, South-East, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been ‘suspended’ from the party.

Odefa’s ‘suspension’ was announced at a press conference by the Ogudu Okwor Ward Executive Committee of the party in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, led by its acting chairman, Hebert Ovuta, accusing him of anti-party activities.

Ovuta noted that the suspension was in line with the provision of Section 57 (3) of the PDP constitution.

The acting chairman, who was flanked by other members of the executive, said, “We are here to inform you of the resolution of the Ward Executive Committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward to suspend Chief Ali Odefa the National Vice Chairman of the PDP Southeast Zone on the grounds of his anti-party activities and other offences which is destructive to the name of our dear party PDP.

“His suspension is in compliance with provision of Section 57(3) of the PDP Constitution.

“It is also important to inform you that we have further referred Chief Ali Odefa to the Ward Disciplinary Committee of the party.”

The Eastern Updates reports that the PDP Constitution provides for the discipline of the party’s national officer by the national leadership of the party only.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the electorate in Rivers State to back the party in the forthcoming local government election on Saturday in this oil-producing state.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, in a statement made on Friday, urged police authorities to guarantee security for the upcoming local government elections.

He called on Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to exercise professionalism, asserting that such conduct is essential for the well-being of the nation.
