Akpabio Denies Approving Request For Presidential Jet

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied reports makinf rounds that President Bola Tinubu had requested the approval of funds to procure a presidential jet.

Akpabio denied the reports after a closed-door meeting of senators, which lasted over an hour.

Several reports had alleged that Tinubu was seeking the National Assembly’s approval of funds for the purchase of a new presidential jet.

Debunking the rumor, Akpabio said, “I have never had that correspondence to approve the purchase of a plane. We care about the President, we care about Nigerians.

“We will approve things that will benefit the people.

“There is nothing before us. But the purveyors of the story know that there is a problem with the Presidential Fleet.”

In another news, Nigerians in the far north will soon face higher fuel costs, as the NNPC plans to sell petrol from the Dangote Refinery at over N1,000 per liter. The company’s decision is set to impact the region’s fuel market, with consumers advised to adjust their budgets accordingly.

Olufemi Soneye, spokesperson for the NNPC, revealed on Monday that the company will sell petrol from the Dangote Refinery at a price exceeding N1,000 per liter in the far north. This announcement was made in a statement outlining the estimated pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) based on September 2024 pricing.

According to Olufemi Soneye, NNPC spokesperson, the price of petrol from the Dangote Refinery could reach as high as N1,019 per liter in certain areas, such as Borno State. In other locations, like Abuja, Sokoto, and Kano, the price is expected to be slightly lower, at N999.22 per liter.
