The Nigerian economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended by Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus who minced no words in appraising the efforts of Tinubu’s government in boosting international exports and minimising imports.

On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding.

“For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”

Her appraisal is against the backdrop of unprecedented hardship and inflation in the country.

Last month, millions of citizens demonstrated against the worsening hardship in the country in a movement tagged ‘End Hunger Protests.’

In another news, President Bola Tinubu has on Sunday felicitated with the Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of year’s commemoration of the Maulud Nabiy, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

Tinubu felicitated with the Muslim faithful in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser, Information and Strategy.

He urged Muslims to use the period for deep reflection and remembrance of the Holy Prophet’s exemplary conduct and noble teachings.

“As we mark the Maulud, we should all reflect on the life lived by Prophet Muhammad, exemplified by purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion. We must endeavour to imbibe those virtues,” he said.

The President also called on Muslims to dedicate the Maulud holiday to pray for the country and show empathy and compassion toward one another.
