Just 48 hours after an Israeli airstrike in the West Bank left five people dead, according to Palestinian Authority reports, the Israeli military has launched a new operation in the region.

The West Bank is experiencing a troubling wave of violence, separate from but linked to the Gaza conflict. Figures from the Palestinian health ministry indicate that more than 640 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military and settler violence since Hamas’s October 7 offensive.

The violence has been indiscriminate, with both sides suffering losses. According to Israeli officials, at least 19 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks since early October.
